The Google Page Rank is a scoring system created by Google to give websites a rank out of 10.
PageRank is a general representation of a website's popularity, it is determined on the result of many factors, primarily based on link popularity of a website based on 0 to 10 logarithmic scale, quality of content on both your site and those linking to you and how many links to and from your pages you have.
This is how the Pagerank is determined, PR10 being the ultimate goal.
Remember that the Page Rank is not a replacement for professional search engine optimization work. The Google PageRank is however a fairly good indicator of the popularity and quality of your web site or of your blog.
So, just to clarify, the Google PageRank is just one metric of many used these days to measure the relative success of a website or blog.
The the PageRank is an indicator of how "popular" a website is regarded by Google and how much Google thinks of your website.
While Google's Page Rank is only updated on the viewable toolbar once every few months, Google internally updates PageRank scores for your websites all the time.
Google's PageRank is also unique in that it doesn't actually give you the rank of your website, but instead ranks individual pages.
Maybe for some webmasters, Page rank is not very important, but for quite a few people it is a fun representation of the hard work and efort they put into their site and almost an awward for the good efforts they give.
Google PageRank is often referred to simply as PR.
The Page Rank algorithm.
So, pagerank has its own algorithm to calculate your sites pr.
Devising an algorithm that assigns relative weights to search terms, backlink, content and other factors may seem fairly simple, but infact it is so complex and secretive that many people outside of google do not have much of an idea how it truly works.
The algorithm takes into account all incoming links - both external and internal and all outgoing links, some people beleive it also uses positioning, anchor text, page content and even things such as bold and h1 text to determin the relevance and importance of such links.
Many believe PageRank has lost its relevance in Google's algorithm but alot still feel it is a stong part and afterall Google search and PageRank algorithm are the main widely known trademarks of Google Inc.
PageRank Prediction.
Free Prediction of your future PageRank is available on quite a few different sites but is it really that accurate, afterall since google keeps its algorithms so secretive we cannot really determine every factor google calculates and therefor cannot predict a pagerank with 100% accuracy, but we can give people a pretty good idea of what to expect.
RankAlert's tool is actually very accurate - it is not just a prediction tool but more of a certainty, This tool does what it says, it predicts your future Google PR.
Big Daddy PageRank Update.
We see an update to the public Google PR approximately every three months. So, no surprises should come with a toolbar update the positioning of a site for a given query already incorporates your current PR.
So in conclusion.
Google Page Rank is mainly just for Entertainment Purposes, it is a ranking system which ranks individual documents based on their empirical placement in the web, it is a fairly accurate representation of the relative value Google places on a website.
The page rank algorithm is named after its founder larry page, hence the name "Page Rank".
Page Rank is not an essential thing to know if you're a serious search engine marketer, as a matter of fact, Google pagerank in many cases equates to nothing more than a representation of a web pages importance but may fluctuate over time and is not always an accurate representation of the quality of useful content on a site.
PageRank is continually evaluated all the time, but is updated publicly every few months, it is raised by having important sites (with high PR of their own), who's content is of the same topic as yours linking to you.
Google PR is one of the unique innovations by Google.
